Carved Wooden Figure of an Ascetic

The intricately carved figure depicts an ascetic, standing barefoot and draped in loosely flowing robes, with emaciated features characteristic of the genre. The folds of the robes are rendered in deep relief, cascading down the figure's frame, emphasizing the contrast between the rich garment and the skeletal form beneath. The figure stands atop a circular wooden base with carved foliage. The work reflects mid-20th century craftsmanship, dating to the 1960s, with a focus on detailed wood carving techniques.
